Facebook Announces New Group Tools

Managing a Facebook Group is a great way to create a community around your Facebook Page, and with over 1 billion people using Facebook Groups, Facebook is focusing their efforts on giving admins more tools to further establish and understand their communities. They have even announced a new mission: Give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.

Mark Zuckerburg announced the company’s new mission and Facebook’s intent to support Group admins at the first-ever Facebook Communities Summit in Chicago this June. In celebrating hundreds of Group admins and leaders, he announced some exciting new tools that will help admins better understand the communities they’re creating and how to best serve them.

New Features for Facebook Groups

The following features are now available to help admins grow and manage their Facebook Groups:

Group Insights

Just like your Facebook Page Insights, Group Insights allow admins to better understand how members are interacting in their Groups. Group Insights offers real-time metrics for growth, engagement and membership. You can see how many times people post, the time times of day that people are most engaged and more.

Membership Request Filtering

This feature saves Group admins the time by allowing them to sort and filter requests by common categories, such as gender or location, and have the ability to accept or decline names all at once.

Removed Member Clean-up

This feature allows you to remove any trace of a bad Group member. You can remove a user and any content they’ve shared, including posts, comments, even the people they have added to the Group.

Scheduled Posts

Admins and moderators can now schedule posts within their Facebook Groups for any time or day. This feature is convenient for consistently checking in with your Group members and giving them value on a regular basis. Also, scheduling posts is great if you’re conducting a course or hosting a week of promotions in your Facebook Group.

Group to Group Linking

If there are other Groups in your niche that you think your members would like to be a part of, you can now easily recommend them with Group to Group linking. By linking other Groups, the Group names will appear at the top of your Group so your members can easily find your recommendations.

Link Group

Groups are becoming an important feature on Facebook. More than 100 million people are said to be members of “meaningful groups,” meaning the group serves as a person’s main form of interaction on Facebook. Zuckerburg announced that Facebook’s goal is to help 1 billion people join meaningful groups.

Facebook Groups serve as a place for communication and discussion. People with common interests are able to ask questions and share their opinions in a safe forum. This is a place where your fans can engage with each other.

They can be a great way to further connect with fans of your Facebook Page, but not every Page needs a Facebook Group. Check out this post to learn the differences between a Facebook Page and a Group, if a Group is right for your Page and how to create a Facebook Group.

Facebook Adds GIF Button in Comments for All Users

Now your fans can show their excitement with your posts even more with Facebook’s latest feature – the release of the GIF comment button. In light of the 30th anniversary of the GIF format this week, the new GIF comment button is available to all users.

Facebook users have had the ability to share GIFs since 2015. But until now, your Facebook fans have been sending GIFs in comments by copying and pasting the URL of a GIF from an external website. The new GIF button – which Facebook began testing in March – lets people search and post GIFs from services like Giphy and post them directly in the comments box.

If a user is posting from a desktop browser, they’ll also see the trending GIFs.

trending gifs

The GIF button makes sharing GIFs a whole lot easier for your fans. The feature is currently only available when leaving a comment on a post and cannot be used when updating your Page status, but we wouldn’t be surprised if that changes soon. GIFs are becoming ever more popular on Facebook. The platform announced that almost 13 billion GIFs were sent on Messenger over the past year, and 400 million were sent on New Year’s Day 2017 alone.

FPTraffic users can easily share GIFs in their status updates using our Giphy content source. You can search through thousands of GIFs or create your own using Giphy Capture.

The GIF button will hopefully encourage users to reply to more posts and comments with animated images. This feature could be great for your Page’s engagement rate.

Fans love sharing GIFs, so why not take advantage of the new feature? Ask your fans to share their favorite GIF relating to your niche.

You can browse through thousands of gifs in their library and find one for almost any reaction you’re going for. Giphy Capture even allows you to create your own.

Giphy recently launched a new product to make sharing gifs even easier and more fun – Giphy Live.

Brands are using gifs to spice up images of products that aren’t especially exciting. Gifs are also being used as a medium to educate people about a brand or niche. They’re becoming more widely used across social media, and when used effectively, gifs can definitely boost your Page’s engagement.

The Giphy Live feature takes everything up a notch.

Giphy Lives creates a virtual newsroom atmosphere for your Facebook Live broadcast. Trending hashtags for your favorite gifs float around the screen, which you can tap and “report on.” Viewers can also comment with gif hashtags, and you can choose to add them to your live video. The real-time experience makes for an all new level of personal interaction with your Page’s fans.

Facebook Live videos have been ranking higher on users’ news feed and are an effective tool for your Facebook Page. Adding gifs to your live video and having viewers do the same is a great way to increase engagement, which can help your live videos rank even higher.

  4. Tap Go Live.
    • If the camera is facing you, you can tap the hashtags to change the gif.
    • If you’re using the back camera to record someone else, a microphone gif will appear in front of the person you’re interviewing.

Tips for Attention-Grabbing Blog Posts

Like we said, sharing your blog posts on your Facebook Page is a great way to funnel traffic back to your monetized website, but it’s easy for content to get lost in crowded News Feeds. Here are a few ways to grab viewers attention and make sure they click your blog posts:

Utilize the Description

Our feature allows you to enter a description for your blog post. Use this opportunity to engage viewers and attract them to your content. Ask different types of questions to draw them in, or pull a compelling quote from your blog post to create engagement.

Share Roundups and Recaps

A great practice for leveraging content is to do recaps on your blog then schedule those to publish to your Facebook Page. Whether you bundle blog posts by date range or by a theme, posting roundups and recaps provides a ton of value to you and your fans. It gives people a comprehensive view of the latest news in your niche, and it allows you to link to previous posts and further leverage your content.

Boost Your Blog Post Content

Create a Facebook ad to make sure your content gets seen by the right people. Facebook ads are a cheap way to drive traffic through to your WordPress blog and increase your reach.

If you run a WordPress blog or website in relation to your Facebook Page, get started with our WordPress Posts feature. Save time by automatically scheduling your blog posts to publish to your Page, and attract your audience to your content by adding attention-grabbing descriptions.

The site’s content is separated into several categories, or “Subreddits.” Subreddits are little communities that are centered around a certain topic.

How can this content source help you boost engagement on your Facebook Page? Read on to learn how Reddit can work for you and how to start posting Reddit content to your Facebook Page.

Why Reddit?

This platform is also a great way to see what is trending among social media users right now. Your Facebook Page fans might not necessarily be on Reddit, but the 542 million monthly visitors who are using it can surely still provide some insight as to what is popular.

If you’re new to Reddit, start by finding Subreddits in your niche. Discover relevant Subreddits that share the best content. Use the Subreddit search box to search for Subreddits related to a keyword.

Over the past few weeks, we have added three new content sources that FPTraffic members can use to easily find and schedule content to post to their Facebook Pages. Here is a breakdown of those sources and how you can use them to increase engagement on your social media posts!

Giphy

Giphy is possibly the largest source of gifs on the internet. We have integrated with them directly so that FPTraffic members can easily find and schedule gifs to post to their social media accounts with a few keystrokes and a click of their mouse.

If you have a Twitter account connected to your Page on FPTraffic, we will post your gifs to Twitter as well, which typically does increase overall engagement.

Give our new Giphy tool a try and see how your audience responds to gifs.

Flickr

Remember Flickr? Flickr was once one of the top image sites on the internet. It’s popularity has waned over the years, but it’s still a great source of content and there are billions of images sitting on Flickr waiting for you!

Use our new Flickr tool to find awesome images your audience will love.

eBay

One of our goals at FPTraffic is to help you not only build and grow Facebook Pages, but also to help you monetize your Pages. In order to be able to maintain the growth of your Page for your audience, you will need to make some money from it.

We are excited to announce integration with eBay on FPTraffic! You can now find and schedule items from eBay to post to your Facebook Pages with, you guessed it, a click of your mouse 🙂

Post eBay listings using FPTraffic

FPTraffic is completely integrated with the 22 different regions eBay covers within the eBay Partner Network. Search through millions of listings in just a few seconds from any of these regions and earn commission on any sales generated through your social media accounts.
